About Us

The Lung Cancer Association is a professional society that brings together pulmonologists, thoracic surgeons, radiation and medical oncologists and residents in these specialties who are involved in the management of lung cancer and other types of thoracic tumors.

Our Association is a modern organization that aims to bring together different specialties to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to diagnosis and management of lung cancer, which is becoming more prevalent in Turkey as well as all around the world. In addition to implementing a multidisciplinary approach to lung cancer and other types of thoracic tumors, our Association also strives to disseminate this approach nationwide and to conduct training and research activities to prevent lung cancer in Turkey. We also keep close track of the latest advances and innovations in our field to ensure early diagnosis and provide the most effective treatment to lung cancer patients.

To achieve our goals, our association plans to organize scientific congresses, seminars, panel discussions, symposia, meetings, and similar activities, to participate in relevant meetings, and to make publications. We will put forth an effort to educate lung cancer patients and families, prepare guidelines and publish related recommendations. We will also develop ethical standards applicable to care, diagnosis, and management of our patients, and put the necessary effort to improve and standardize the level of medical education in our field. While moving towards our goals, we will closely collaborate with other similar national (Thorax, TÜSAD, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, the Turkish Thoracic Surgery, Thoracic Radiology,...) and international (ATS, ERS, EORTC, ASCO, ESMO, IASLC) societies, associations, and organizations, contribute to promoting the associations in our field of expertise, organize joint scientific and social meetings, and provide top-level support to related events to further strengthen the existing collaboration.

Our association is planning to open branch offices in different cities across the country. Addition of new members will ensure a strong multidisciplinary structure, and working groups and task forces (such as epidemiology, early diagnosis, staging, treatment, prevention, follow-up, ethics, and social relationships) will be established to reinforce the scientific and social bonds between our members and patients.

You are invited to become an active member of our Association that adapts a multidisciplinary approach to lung cancer and equally represents the various disciplines with the goal to ensure a close collaboration and represent our country on international platforms.
